This is going to be disjointed. I necked a lot of pints before I wrote it and I’ve got a f**k-off glass of Jameson in front of me right now. As per usual, I’ll preface this article by saying I’m more of a drinker than a football expert.

What the f**k can a person say about that except that it was utterly f**king abysmal? Yeah, I know Calvert-Lewin had a goal disallowed for no f**king reason that would have made it 2-0, but given the performance afterwards, I doubt it would have meant shit to be honest. Got to give it to Spurs, they were miles better than us today.

About the only thing I’ll say for the team today is that we kept fighting till the final whistle, which was good to see. Beyond that, it was a shit show of epic proportions. Probably the most embarrassed I’ve been for the team since that f**king 4-0 tw**ing in the derby between Martinez and Klopp.

I find it interesting there seems to be a contingent of fans who thing Gueye is not good or versatile enough to play for the team. I mean, if you needed any proof of how shit we are without him, the last two games are it. I get it. He can’t shoot. He’s bad at taking the ball forward. He fluffs chances. But in my view his defensive work more than makes up for his other shortcomings. We might have still lost today with him on the pitch, but it would not have been by four goals.

I’m sure someone who knows more about football will tell me that Silva f**ked this up, but I’m not sure what he could have done better. Without Gueye we do not defend near as well, and as soon as Gomes went off we had fuck all creativity. And who do we have as back up for those two? Davies and Morgan f**king Schneiderlin. I won’t deny I have a soft spot for Tom and he’s young and might have the potential to become a quality player for us (I know, it’s not going to be popular giving him the benefit of the doubt after today, but he is only 20, there is time), but we all know Morgan isn’t up to it for the level we want to be at anymore, if he ever was, and Tom isn’t anywhere close to there yet, if he ever does manage to get there. Fact is, we need reinforcements. Which brings me to the next point.

We gave what, fifty million quid to Sam He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Allardyce in January to buy Walcott and Tosun? Silva is Moshiri’s man, and I imagine was approved by Brands. Give him more, a lot more, because it’s needed. It’s going to take double that to get close to fixing this team, and I’m only talking about in January. I don’t even know where we’d begin with the reinforcements, to be honest. We definitely need a proper centre forward, but after today I’d say the midfield needs a fuck-tonne of bolstering as well. Without Gomes and Gueye we’re left painfully thin and utterly shite there.

I knew this season was going to be a write-off, a chance for Silva to get the team playing his way and to improve us slowly for next season; I just hope the club see that the job is a slow one. I’m consoled by the fact Brands has said he thinks he can get us there but advises patience as it won’t be quick, and I’m also consoled by the fact most of his buys have been good ones. Utterly humiliating, today was. Not a lot else to say.’
